That's me, Tim Reiffenrath, on a hiking / photography trip.

To begin with: being a photographer is not my job - it is a passion, something I love doing and hope to grow and improve throughout the years to come.

I am an airline pilot on short- to medium haul routes in Europe, presently at home in Austria’s beautiful capital Vienna. Flying airplanes for a living means I get to see the sun almost every day (this cliché is actually pretty true) and travel quite a bit. Nowadays the time during most of our stopovers is limited, and after a good night’s sleep and a breakfast to get ready for the day, there isn’t really that much time left to fit photography in there without it being stressful.

And to me, photography is a way to reduce stress, to get creative and to enjoy being outside - and it should always stay like that. So that is why in most cases, I limit my photography to my time off.

My interest in the field of photography started about six years ago. Key contributors to the beginning of this journey where my wife - and soulmate - Teresa, as well as my dear friend Peer Ole. Both were into photography before me and were (and still are) able to help me through discussions, technical knowledge, reviews, tips and joint photo trips.

I love the great outdoors and photography has definitely helped to increase the amount of time I spend outside, walking (running if I’m late), hiking or biking to locations that grabbed my attention. And although I love to sleep in (I can see Teresa heavily nodding while reading this), I have never regretted getting up at an unspeakable hour in order to catch the best conditions. Even if it didn’t turn out to be a great spot, the weather didn’t cooperate or the photos just didn’t turn out the way I was hoping, I always came back somewhat proud, one experience richer and - happy.

For my short-term goals (‘short-term’ being about the time you spend on my site) I would love to show you the work that I have done so far, share the beauty of the world out there and maybe even inspire you.

Whether it be through an incredible landscape, aesthetic architecture, the little things in our everyday life or our lovely cat Tabby, who will be seen from time to time (she just needs to be close to the action - he tiped, while the cat was eagerly watching him).

My long-term goals are to improve my photographic abilities (like every other photographer I suppose), explore more parts of our world both near and far, and hopefully generate some additional earnings someday to be able to increase the amount of time and energy I put into this area.
